Making voice recording

I'm a computer novice, I learned how to make a website (

and want to make a recording to put on my site. The only program on my computer that lets me do that has a one-minute limit, and I need to not be limited. I also want to make meditation recordings to put on my site and to burn to CD. I have mic, speakers, and plenty of hard drive space. Is there a good 'freeware' out there to accomplish these things? Or, is there one to buy that is basic and easy to use? In other words, I want to use my computer as a 'tape recorder'.

sorry kinda late on this response, but you might try Acid Express or Acid Music (one is free) from Sonic Foundry. I believe you can record your voice with your microphone with one of these.
