Can you please tell me how can i make a text box read only on both netscape and IE5.

I tried the >Readonly (html property) but is only IE5 compatible. I posted this in ASP and HTML forums but at the moment i haven't yet receive any succesfull results. I just want to make a text box read only. I dont care if it is going to be using html or java.... I just want the thing to work...

Please i want help

onfocus=this.blur(); is the most common cross browser solution to prevent users from typing in text boxes

if you want this more generic (such as preventing all fields to receive inputs), wait for jaredn to come ;))

but i keep wondering why some people don't want users to type text in an input text box - if you only want to display text why don't you just display it as plain text ??

it's easy to retrieve and set the value of a set box, cross-browser. it's probably just a result of netscape 4 being awful and not supporting innerHTML (and some strange gui designs that I've used myself) jared@aauser.com -
