Making Sure Backup Works

I am currently changing backup tapes while the dba is gone and I need to know if the backup tape was recognized and ready to run.

Is there a way to see if the backup process has started and working properly?

Depending on what version of Arcserve you are running, and on what platform (ie NT or Netware), there should be an Arcserve Manager. If you run this and go into the Job Status screen, you can see whether jobs are currently running, and on the new versions of Arcserve you can also see the details of previously run jobs.
