Is there a way to make registry changes permanent? There is an entry that I would like to "lock". I have to keep on changing this entry as it gets rewritten to the default setting. Any Ideas?

Not sure what key you're trying to 'lock' or what OS you're running . Best to give more info to get the right answer. And you'll be better off exporting your Registry to your Desktop & setting a Restore Point before making any changes there in case something goes wrong.

The OS is Windows XP Pro (hence the posting in this section of the forum [tongue]). Ok heres the deal...I am using an ATI All-In-Wonder tv tuner card and the tv software automatically turn on the "live mode" which allows you to pause the tv and rewind and so on. I dont like that feature and would like the TV to play "live". I do this by changing one of the entries of the software in the registry however if I make any changes like selecting a different input it automatically goes back restore the default entry which is to disable the "live" tv. So I am looking for a way to lock just that entry so that it is not overwritten by the software. I hope this makes sense.

Have you looked at any available preference setting via the Video Card software?

The Registry has Permissions, just like files and folders, setting an appropriate access permission might be the next thing to consider. Right-click on the Key involved to see the Permissions.

Thanks for the replies. I tried changing the permissions to that specific container and it would not let the program start up.

Thanks for the link Bob I didnt find anything there that would help with this issue but I did find it very informative and good resource to have just in case.

I think that I will be switching vid cards to a dedicated tuner sooner than later, that would be one fix.

PS: I completely agree with your signature Bob!
