How do I make the Negative numbers of my report display in red, and otherwise display in whatever color that field is currently set to?

Assum that your formula name is {@MyNumber}.
Right-click on the field and select "Format Field...".
Go to "Font" tab and click on a little "X+2"" button next to the "Color" dropdown. Type the following:

if {@MyNumber} < 0 then red

It should solve it.
