Have Elite 48 and IPK.I have a need to make several phones ring by dialing an extension. Would this be done using SIE keys and if so specificly how using SAT software?

Yes this should be done using SIE or CAR keys.

your best bet would be to use the MB search in the help menu for the info i am about to give you.

in MB 1-2-04 assign ports to be used as CAR keys
in MB 4-10 assign a station number to the CAR keys ( iwould use something in a range you are not using for Physical phones or VM)
Assign the CAR or SIE in MB 4-12 to a button on the phones
assign the ringing in MB 4-37 for day and 4-38 for night. Thi SAT will show you you which CAR keys are available for ringing assignments. i would also recommend you change MB 4-41 which enables ringing line preference on a SIE/CAR. If you have the SAT i think there may be a wizard for CAR/SIE also.

Thanks for your answer. This is what I thought but the only thing confusing me was when I look at the key assignment, to the right it says SIE#21(none). I thought I had seen the "none" as something else on a system; when I assigned the ringing it filled in with the ring type. I did not realize what was in the(). I have not tried this since all my programming is remote and I need someone on site to verify operation. Somebody before me had decided the way to do the multiple ring was to dial an analog ext which was connected to a CO port which appeared on multiple phones. I thought there had to be a better way.
Follow up question: when a call ringing on a SIE/CAR is answered, can the call be put on hold and be picked up at another phone that has the same SIE key? Can the call be transferred to another ext that does not have the SIE button?
thanks again.

The function of the CAR key is just that an arrival key. Once a call is answered on a CAR key, it moves to the CO the call is on. so to answer your question, as long as the CO appears on the phones the yes. The way around that is to use the Call Appearance or CAP Key.
