If I forget to set the "persist", and I do once in awhile, I end up blowing away some real important data when out of habit...as in a word processor program..I hit "enter" at the end of a line. Is there a way to make the memo fields persist BY DEFAULT...or at least make them stay that way once persist has been selected once?

I can't find where I've done this at the moment but I think it was:
action(editEnterMemoView)
or else:
action(editEnterPersistFieldView)
on the arrive method of the field. If this doesn't work let's know and I'll find the code.
Umm! I've found Pdx one of the easiest (and most powerful) db / development packages available.

Make a backup copy of the form. Load the form in design mode. Select the Memo field and right-click. Depending on the version of Pdx (which you don't say) select "Methods/Arrive" or "Object Explorer/(Methods Tab)/Arrive". Before the endMethod statement add one or other of :
action(editEnterMemoView)
action(editEnterPersistFieldView)

Run the form using F8. If it does what you want then save it. I not go back to the copy.
OGriofa...

I'm using Paradox 9...the version that came with Corel Office 2000..prof. edition. I haven't even begun to explore the programming aspect of it, though I'd like to customize it that way. Do you have to have a runtime module to use a program written in Paradox 9? I have no doubt the program is robust...the problem is ME. I suppose a feature-rich program like Paradox 9 isn't designed for the novice-to-intermediate user. Can't please everyone, I guess. I didn't find dbase any easier in its hayday.
