Hi All,

We are using LN 5.0.10 clients and I am in the process of setting up an Excel spreadsheet that contains training records for our employees. We have our SOPs stored on a global DB thread and I would like to, when I click on the individual SOP that I have referenced in Excel, to open up the thread where it is stored. It would even be better if I could open it up (MS Word doc) without the user having to do it.

Any ideas or help on this would be great

Thanks

Here's what I can think of :

1) Activate the HTTP task on the server (if it isn't already), calculate the URL for the document you want, wand use the URL in Excel (it should work). Don't forget to secure all other dbs on the server by setting Anonymous acces to None.
2) Put the training record in a Notes db, and use doclinks.

I don't think you'll open anything from Notes in Word if it has not been created in the Notes document with Word, but I may be wrong.

Pascal.

Thank you Pascal but I have no admin rights to the server, as I am just an end user. What I was trying to do is something like:

\\servername\NOTES4\SOPlibrary.nsf

and an assortment of other variations

Thanks

You need to check with your Notes admin if or not the HTTP task is running.
If it is a corporate decision not to, then I'm afraid you'll have to think of something else.
Of course, there still is the option of maintaining the training records in Notes. I really think you should rather go along that path.

Pascal.
