making image appear after moving over top of it

Howdy,

I am new to flash, so this might be a simple task, but I am stumped.
I am trying to make a circular ring appear as I move a ball around the ring. I first created the ring that is colored in. I know that making a ball a mask will show the ring through the ball, but what I want to appear to happen is as the ball travels over the path of the ring, that the ring appears and stays on the screen until the ball has made the full circle around the ring.

I hope I have made sense in all my babbling.

After a little thought. I cut a circle into 4 pieces and placed it over the ring, which covered the ring. Each piece of the circle I put on its own layer and did a motion tween and rotated it 1/4 of a circle. Gave the appearance as something moved over it, that it started to appear.

Next time, I will try to wait a day or two before I post.
