Using CS2.

I use my guides extensively to align things and make sure my paths are all in line, but I wanted to make a guide that angles at 45 degrees, instead of it being horizontal or vertical.

Is this possible?

Draw a line at 45 degrees, View>Guides>Make Guides, or Ctrl-5. You can make any vector shape into a guide like this. Squiggly lines, circles, rectangles, angled lines, ANYTHING.

another possibility is to rotate the guide.

make sure that the guide is unlocked (menu View > Guides > Uncheck Lock Guides)

Select the guide with the black arrow and double click the rotate tool in your toolbox and rotate your guide in a specific angle or you can rotate it freehand.

But itchybug's way is also a possibility, I use his method for more complex guidelines

hope this helps

I never use the default guides, mainly because they frequently cause problems if you try to move your work around with guides unlocked, it will return an "Out of Artboard Experience" type of error.
