making fields appear in other databases

I'm having trouble doing this. I've tried created computed text fields but can't get any data to appear yet other fields in the database appear from other databases. Is there something really obvious I'm missing? How do I make fields appear in the field listing?

you may have to use the @DBLookup command to access the information from the other database. Have you ever used this command?
