Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am working on a packaging design and have been asked to supply an ai file with placed images using spot channels. I have saved these images down already in photoshop as psd's with the CMYK channels left on but blank and the spot channels visible, there is nothing on the layers, as I want only to use the channels. when I try and place these in illustrator it simply places a blank box, as though it's reading the layers, rather than the channels, I have followed the photoshop help and done everything is says it make my image visible, but it's just not working. illustrator help seems to have no mention of channels, does anybody have any idea what I'm doing wrong, and any handy tekky cheat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading.

what are you trying to do? is this going to print?

Hrmm...??? you may have to redraw it in illustrator.

...when you save to psd, did you have the spot option checked in the save as dialog?

...this will end up with a white psd file otherwise...

...ensure the spot channel is appropriately named as a spot channel and also best kept linked rather than embedded...

...psd's are fine for spot color work with illustrator CS2 and CS3, possibly CS but can't remember now...

...worth taking note of this for spot colors in photoshop and illustartor too:
