Hello All,

I was wondering if any of you knew if I could make changes to the custname and adrsCode using sql instead of doing all changes to the Customer Maintenance Card in GP. I can see the items that I want to change in these tables RM00101 and RM00102.

The whole purpose of wanting to make these changes is database cleanup. Over the years people have used anything from the word Primary or a number or a city name as the AddressType and of course this would vary as to who was entering that day as to what they would use. We are trying to clean this up to have just the AddressType as MAIL TO or SHIP TO for all customers. Also special characters had been used in the customer names and I am trying to remove all of them and of course the extra spaces in the names.

Thanks!
Brenda

Brenda,

You will be much further ahead to use either the combiner tools from Microsoft Professional Services or from the third party provider called Corporate Renaissance. In both cases, they will combine everything into one ID, including history, and you will be assured that nothing has been left out or broken due to a missed record or a missed table update.

The folks at Corporate Renaissance have actually been doing this longer than Microsoft. I first used their tools back in the version 3.x days. They are highly recommended.
