I have a database that was using replication until last night. I created a new database and imported everything from the old database to the new one to remove replication. Worked great, or so I thought. What is the exact percedure for making an MDE? Do I need to split the database out first? I've tried it with and without splitting the database and I get the same error everytime. That error is: "Microsoft Access is unable to create a MDE database". Any thoughts?

typically you get this error when it cannot compile the vba code. go to the VBA Editor, from the menu "Debug" - "Compile". If it cannot compile, then there is your answer thus far. make sure your code can compile prior to making a mde file.

I found this message when upgrading to 2002. I think Access 97 is a little more forgiving about junk code left lying around. I found that in 2002, if you delete an object from a form and not the code, that the code seems to end up in the General Section of a form. After I went through and cleaned up the orphaned code, I was able to compile fine. This took a little while after being able to be a little sloppy in Access 97.

It's sort of like being single then getting married...but lets not analyze the being married part beyond having to clean up and be more organized.
