I have drawn a picture of a yard with trees in it. It looks great except it would look a lot better if it had some shadows for the trees and some shadows to show elevation changes. My problem is that I draw the shadow, but I don't know how to make the edges of the shadow disolve into the grass.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

dyow:

Select the shadow, and in the Transparency Palette (Ctrl-Shift-10), set the Opacity Mode to "Multiply". Reduce the Opacity to about 40-50%.

Next, go to Effect>Blur>Gaussian Blur, set for about a 2px radius to start.
