Hello!

I am creating a wire frame for a website and I created a square which I want to fill with the words "photo/graphic/image" Currently I typed the text and created a clipping mask, but what I would like to create is as a fill option if this is possible.

For example, I could make a circle, square, star, (any closed path), then click or drag a swatch/pattern/symbol (I don't know which) to that path and that path is then filled with my words (which don't have to be editable they are converted to outlines)

I attached a link of what my clipping mask looks like (ignore the stray black lines) :) Thanks so much!

Thanks Jenny

...for patterns you need to create a perfect square, then fill the area with your text and offset as required, you have to keep in mind that whatever overlaps the sides of the square needs to be mirrored on the opposite side...

...behind everything you need a box, no fill, no stroke...

...select all of your pattern, including the box behind and drag to the swatches palette...

...here attached screen shot to show:

...you can also download the CS4 file created here:

...you may have to "right-click" the above links and choose "download linked file", instead of just clicking the links...
