The last time I used any form of UNIX was in the mid 1980s on old 68000 HPUX HP9000 boxes.. when 100mb was HUGE !

I get sick of shuffling CD's trying to locate libraries etc at home and pondered whether I could put in place my old P120 as a CD server as it has an old 4 CD autochanger and a standard CD. Tried W95 but netbui is too slow...! LINUX !

Only have 10base kit but then its only for ME.

There are so many refs. for Linux I really do not know where to get started...

[1] For this task.. what is the best Linux system to get and where / cost ?

[2] Where do I locate the necessary information to make networking possible and share the linux drives ?

[3] As I am as green as they come.. what have I forgotten ??

I am not a programmer , however I do understand most issues, only a lack of time lets me 'play' more !

It should work fine, I would go with RedHat 6.2 or Debian (although if you are that green... RH is the best bet).

Make sure you install and configure Samba correctly so you can access the CDs from Windoze boxes too :)

And the last bit of warning...make sure your autochanger works with Linux :)
Check linux.org docs section for how-to's for all the above :)
