making a background transparent or a colour without trimming???

Hello,

I was wondering if anybody could help me on this issue.

I constantly have images which i have to trim in order to delete the background? is there a method in flash or any othe r programme which can automatically change the background to transparent or a colour?

photoshop, fireworks, etc......

use wand tools to select the areas you want out..delete..save as gifs with transparent backgrounds...
