Makeing a Calculation using a date 1

I need help making a calculation. Here is the background I need an calculation for a security clearance expiration. It will like this Clearance A will expire 10 years from date of issue, Clearance B will be downgraded after 5 years and become Clearance A which will expire in another 5 years. I hope i did not confuse ya. I would like to be able to use this calculation to determine another calculation if possible. Thanks for any help. Also where is a good place to look or perhaps a good book with intermediate access database building
