make_recovery error

The following make_recovery error appears in the makrec.log1 log file:

lifcp: Cannot create SYSCMDS ; no space on the LIF volume

make_medialif: error - lifcp SYSCMDS failed, probable insufficient size for /var/tmp/uxinstlf.recovery

Does anyone have any idea of why this error is occurring?

/var is currently at 53%, with 481MB of free disk space...

Any help would be much appreciated...
