make the border blur

Hi,

How can i make the border of an image blur. I remmeber it had something to do with feather, but I forgot the next step..

1) Create Selection
2) Apply Featehr Command
3) Inverse Selection
4) THen delete and you will have a feathered edge

For a tighter feather, hit the del key again untill the desired effect is achived.

I apply feather, and then inverse selection. but when i hit delete thing happens. In the history pannel I see written clear, clear, eveytime I hit delete.
when i hit ctl + delete, it removes the outerside which suppose to go blur..
