Hi. I want to setup text boxes in a master page, and apply it to all the pages. When I try to do this the page with the master applied does not have a text box in it. to do it to each page is laborious as I need a main text box, a page number text box and a page header text box on each page. for this reason I have spent many hours trying to figure this out. no success so far!
what I really want is to apply different masters - with text boxes - to alternate pages automatically. the text box for the main text needs to be positoined differently on alternate pages, and the page number text boxes need to be on opposite sides.
All help gratefully received.

If you open a spread, lets say pages 2-3, you can apply the text boxes as you like. After you have that, go to Pages window & select both pages of the spread (Shift click on Mac).

Then go to the little triangle on the upper right of the Pages window and select Save as Master from the pop up menu and name that master. Then shift click (mac) the first spread and the last spread. This will select all spreads. Go back to the little triangle and select Apply Master to Pages and select your new master to apply.

This will take care of all spreads, allowing you to have the automatic different boxes you desire. That will only leave you with the first and last pages of the book.
