Make test connections over the web

I have set up a MySQL server at home and at work, but I would like to find a test server somewhere out there that I can connect to and test an Access interface against it, just to make sure my idea is valid.

Does anyone know of a place (MySQL) open to the public?

Don't know of any, but in any event the mechanism used for connecting to a local MySQL server is the same as connecting to a remote server, so it shouldn't make any difference.
