Does this make_tape_recovery command include all the data? Or just the vgs outside the O/S? In our enviroment we could not fit all the data on the DDS tape, if all the data is included with the vgs, Our database alone is 314gig.....

make_recovery –A –d /dev/rmt/0m –t “Ignite tape xx/xx/xxxx”
thanks in advance!

As far as I know, the make_recovery will not save your data, so you need a separate strategy for that.

Check the man page, there is a config file that sets what will be backed up.

By default ...

make_tape_recovery -a will get all of vg00

Typically, this is used foe the os and another backup (eg. networker) is used for the data.

Not looking to backup the data. We did a DR test last weekend and we had to create the file systems that are not the standard O/S.

In our DR, after igniting the servers we recreate the user filesystems and let Networker do the restore. Users are happy, Managers are happy...

As Marin999 indicated by default the ignite back up all the vg00 filesystems.
