I'm running a passthru query in Access, referencing a SQL database. In the passthru, is there any way to have the results end up in a table in Access instead of popping up on the display screen as a select query? Thanks!

Hiya Christine,

Yes, it is quite simple. When you design your passthrough query, you should be able to select the query to run as a make table query not a select query (click on the drop down arrow on the Icon to the left of the exclamation mark (the two tables)). You should then get a range of queries that you can run. If you select make table and then supply a table name, that should do what you require.

hello,
I can't do the opposite!

I can't get a query run on the server to make a recordset on the screen, if you see what I mean. This is in Access 97.

Hiya Peter,

Basically, you do the same as the instructions for Christine, but instead of selecting a make table query from the drop down list, just chose a select query. This will list your results to screen only.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I want the results to be a record source for a form. Peter Meachem

Hiya Peter,

You should just be able to make a select query which you then pick as your data source for your form. (I think...I don't use Access forms much)

I think I have a question along the same lines. I use a query to search for an older record. One of the values that it returns (endtime) I want it to store in a table so that I can use that value in another calculation (resttime. so I guess my question is the same; how do I store the results of that query but not rewrite the table every time?
