I have a report that goes to vendors for product defects. I have a subreport that actually lists the mulitple defective parts. I need the subreport to start a second column after, say 10, records in the subreport, freeing up vertical space. The primary column of information in the subreport is only 3 inches wide, so there is room. How can I make Access 2000 do this?

The easiest format is to set your columns to print across and then down. If that is not acceptable, you could try set the height of your subreport to a maximum and then set the Can Grow to No and Can Shrink to Yes. I haven't tried this but most other solutions are much more complex.

smitty691,
Maybe I am misunderstanding you. Do you want your subreport to have columns? If so, you can go to the page setup for that report and simply give it a number of columns to print. For 3 inches, you can print 2 columns (unless you are printing landscape or on wider paper than 8 1/2 inches). You can set the space between the columns, the column widths and also if you want to print across or if you want to print top down and then the next column top down. Once you try it a few times, you will get the hang of it.
Let me know if this is what you want or if you are having any problems.

I had tried these suggestions with no luck Thursday. today (Monday) I deleted and rebuilt the subreport, formatting for 2 columns, and it worked. Why it wouldn't work Thursday I don't know. I appreciate the help!
