I am working on a legend system, integrated with an ESI Voiceworks 16 voicemail box. Callers can get to voicemail if the auto-attendant picks up and they navigate to a specific extension. But if the receptionist picks up and transfers the call, it just rings and rings. I need to tell the Legend to key in # and the extension number if the extension doesn't pick up. That will transfer the call to the extensions VM box.

Any help on doing this will help out greatly.

Thanks,

D

Typically, the Legend's extensions have to be put into the voice mail cover group to get voice mail coverage. The Legend uses mode codes to signal the voice mail system that it has a call from ext xxx, and the appropriate voice mailbox picks up. When setting up the VMS calling group, set it as a generic system, and that's about all you can do. I know of no way to alter the mode codes coming from the Legend.

In the Voice works 16 set the phone system type as 55 (might be 54 one is legend one is partner) then set the Group used for the voicemail as Integrated VMI and it will work. The Legend end is Programmed as if it Had a legend mail on it (it uses the same inband DTMF codes)

That's how I have it set. Is there a section in the legend programming to specify how many rings at the station before it ransfers to voicemail?

Assuming you have coverage set to voice mail properly, go under extensions> cover delay > group cover. The default is 3 rings. You may adjust that down if you like. Also, as a check, if you hit feature 56 and the extension (Direct Voice Mail Feature) you shuld be sent to the voice mailmox immediately. If not, check coverage:
Assign the extensions to a cover group (usually cover group 30); assign the VMS calling group (usually 770) to cover the calls from cover group 30, put the VMS ports in the VMS Calling group.

I got it figured out. The delay was set higher in the voiceworks than the legend. Once I changed that, everything fell together...but thanks for the help!!!
