I'm using portfolio as a menu to launch a few reports. I was wondering if it is possible to make the reports read-only. Is there an option(properties, etc) that will allow me to accomplish this. I only wants these particular reports to be read-only, not everything associated with Cognos Impromptu. Thanks in advance.

Easiest ways to make a report read-only are:

1) make the report itself read-only at the OS level. or

2) log into the catalog with a user-class that cannot create or modify reports. (Settings under Catalog | User Profiles | Governors).

For our Impromptu and Powerplay applications, we map the users to a file server that hosts the reports, and only give them read access to the server. Seems to work fine. We thought this was the simplest way.

Cheers,

Adam.
