Here's the lowdown,
NT 4 based domain with 1600 clients, no AD. Clients are 98, NT, 2000 and XP.
In Windows XP, when you browse the domain, the description of the computer appears first with the actual computer name at the end in brackets.
Example: WINNT 4-STANDARD-P4-200 (CUBE-02-223)
As you can see, the important information is on the name.
So my question is, does anyone know how to force XP to only show the computer name?

Thanks.

Do you have a view tab with a drop down menu. Is there a "Choose Details" option on this menu?

Found what you were talking about, but that doesn't resolve the problem. Thanks, though...never noticed that before...learned something...

this has to be one of the most annoying things I've found with XP. Same boat here, don't have any new info for you though.
