Make Chart Labels Vertical?

I have a chart in Access, and it isn't bad, but I would like to have the ability to format the different areas of font like you can in Excel.

Can I make the X axis labels be vertical? They are for example, an 800 number. So there would be like 8005551234 and then 5 others that I am showing data for.

As you can see, listing those x axis values horizontally will take up a lot of landscape space. I would also like to specify different font values for the "values" for each bar, and the axis labels. Any help is appreciated.

I would create a new, blank form. Then copy the graph control from your report to the form. Set the graph control properties to:
Enabled: Yes
Locked: No
Then, you can view the form and double-click the graph. Change the formatting however you would like. When satisfied, copy the graph control back to the report after deleting the old one.

This sounds like it has possibilities, thank you. My issue is, though, that I am trying to automate this all in the end. I am working to get 4 charts that go with 4 different reports, all asking for the same date criteria, and not having to make the user print them all seperately.

Does that make this option a little more difficult?

Thanks

misscrf,

I'm not sure how this question relates to the first message. Are you asking how to use the same criteria for four different reports? Or does your question relate to combining the charts into one report?

All criteria for reports/controls should come from values enter/selected on forms.

Also, you can use code to modify almost everything about a chart control.

You can double-click the chart and modify it's formatting. Once in the design of the chart (by double-clicking on it), double-click on the x-axis, and a properties box will come up. I think starting in Access 2000 you can change the alignment to vertical.

A hint in case you didn't know: if your chart currently looks like the 'north-south-east-west' template thing that Access comes up with, you can make it look like what your particular data creates, so you can then format your columns or lines or whatever you have easier. In report design, View Properties, and click once on the chart object. in the 'source' (the query or table that is the source of the data), click on the build button (the button with the three dots) to the right. run the query (or open the table). go ctrl A (Select All) then ctrl C (copy). close that query grid. double-click on the graph, and view the datasheet. click in the upper-left corner so the whole thing is selected (black). go ctrl V (paste) and paste in your data (don't worry--this data will be replaced each time you run your report. you are only altering the 'template' data). now the 'template' graph has your real data in it. you can change the type from line to column or whatever (select a column or line or whatever you have in the graph and choose Chart-Options from the toolbar). you can also obviously change the formatting too.

hope this helps--

Thanks GingerR. Haven't seen you around much lately. It's good to see you posting again.

Hi Duane. Gee..it's nice to be missed :)) I guess I go in waves, you know...depending on how busy or bored I am at work :))

I like the idea of doing that, but this query has a date parameter to it. The chart shows for a particular month of data at a time.
