Make and cc

Hi Guys
At our shop, we've just installed Aix 4.3.3(yes - I know - about 8 years too late)
But we didn't get cc included in the new build, so I've resurrected the earlier version, residing in /bin.
When I attempt a make, I get the following error :
cc -c -I. -I/usr/gnbb/include -I/usr/cg-index/include -I/data/build_2.0.9/include lattrd.c -o lattrd.o
cc: cannot retrieve message number 1501-238
make: The error code from the last command is 41.

Anyone any ideas,sites that might help me get cc running again?

hi,
in AIX V4, C compiler is no more part of OS
I don't belive what you have done is the best.

You have other 2 solutions:

- purchase a C compiler for AIX ( easy to speak! )

- download and install gnu compiler from normal download
sites ( see in this forum, or

http://www.rootvg.net

)

I use this from 4-5 years, and I also built and sold
projects to our customers.

Victor - Just noticed that cc hasn't been ressurected at all, but exists as a link to /usr/vac/bin/xlc - which I guess is a C compiler. The error message still stands as per the above request.
Any further thoughts ?
(Our Unix Admin boys no nothing about compilers, or I would ask them)
