Hi! I'm new to Adobe and must make our site Section 508 Compliant. Towards this end, I have downloaded the Make Accessible plug-in from Adobe. However, I really don't know how to use it. It's supposed to let you create a tagged PDF file from an existing PDF file that will be accessible using a screen reader.

Has anyone ever done this? How do you actually use this plug-in. Thanks!

Hi, Snix,

Is this PageMaker Plug-in or an Acrobat Plug-in?
Mac or Windows?

As there seems to be little activity here, try posting your question here - - you will need to register first.

The Acrobat Forums are full of experienced people, but not for the faint-hearted.

Thanks for your reply. It's the Acrobat plug-in. I think I figured out how it works, though. I believe you open a PDF, click on Document, then there's "Make Accessible". Click on that, and the "tagged" PDF is created. I am going to check it with a screen reader next week, but I think this is how you do it. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. It doesn't look like it handles graphs or pix real well, though.

Thanks again!

Hi, snix,

If you have Acrobat 5, then you can add and check for alternative colour schemes, use of Unicode fonts, notes and so on.

I've hardly ever used it, but the user guide and helpfiles should be enough. Otherwise seek advice from other users in AdobeForums.
