Make a zigzag lined brush 2

Can anyone tell me how to create zigzag line brush? It needs to look like a back-n-forth stitch used in clothing. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Well, the zig-zag filter or effect come to mind...

Filter>Distort>Zig-Zag,

or

Effect>Distort&Transform>Zig-Zag,

but if you want to customize it, it'll take a bit more work.

I had a little time, so I put together a quick page on making a zigzag pattern brush. It's a pdf, and as you may or may not know, you can open a pdf in Illustrator (you don't even have to rename it) so do that and look at how it works.
