Hi, I am new to Nortel BCM. We have an issue when the user phone programming was changed after the user plug-in to the wrong jack.

We were able to re-programe the phone using BCM Element Manager. Actually, we only re-programed the buttons.

Now, the user is claiming the the phone is not working like the way it was.

Can the user get a dialtone/make an outgoing call by pressing any of the "LINE" key? Currently she can only make a call from the "INTERCOM" key. This phone has 2 Intercom key.

Currently, we get nothing when we press the line key. The only way to get a dialtone is by pressing the intercom key.

Can someone confirm?

Thank you,

sienz

The line buttons need to Appear at the phone in order to make calls out using Line Buttons.

If you unplugged the phone from the socket and put a different phone Model in it defaults the settings BUT should keep line appearance Buttons.

So by plugging in the Old phone it Defaults back to its Basic setting BUT should keep line appearance settings/

If you have removed the Line Appearance then you will have to reassign them again.

Line---Add ---line number==appear or appear and ring

Hi Thank you for the reply,

This phone has 3 lines. I just checked the Line assingment for this phone in the BCM Element Manager and seems all of the lines already have "Appear" type

Line 240 Appearance type -> APPR ONLY (1 Appearance)
Line 330 Appearance type -> APPR&RING (2 Appearances)
Line 350 Appearance type -> APPR&RING (2 Appearances)

Is there anywhere else on where should i check?

Are these target lines? The line numbers don't look llike physical analog lines. Target lines are inbound only. What is displayed on the phone when you press the line key? If they are target lines you should see 'incoming only' or something to that effect on the display.

Sounds to me like you have DID's set up on that phone. Like biv343 said these are target lines and are only used for incoming calls. Did you try dialing 9 then the number? Also if you have a PRI sometimes you don't receive a dialtone, you just dial your number silent and the call connects.
