Make a 3d ball

3D filters affect textured items. You will not see an effect on a flat color. You might try the 'spherize' filter on a photo but it will do nothing to a flat color.
To make a 3D ball, take an airbrush of a darker color and spray a round stroke along the bottom of the circle. The brush size should be about half of the size of the circle. Trace the center of your airbrush along the border of the circle. Then select a lighter color and spot a highlight on the other end of the circle.
