My friend has bought the DWL-G122. The computer is using Windows XP. The computer has five USB sockets but this device demands USB-2. One of the sockets is USB-2, we don't know wich one.

We have major difficult problems to install this device and we have tried just about anything. The device is dark. The LEDs are not lightning in any of the USB sockets or in any other way...

What shall we do!? (We have called the D-Link support with no clear help and advice...)

First

The device is UBS 2.0 where you computer is USB 1.1 or 1.0. USB-2 doesn't mean the second port on the card. All five ports on you computer are USB 1.X. In the device specs it says that its USB 1.1 compliant. Read up on you PC specs to see if its 1.1.

Second

Were the drivers installed before connecting the device? Install the drivers/software before connecting the device and Win XP should recognize it when plugged in.

Third

Make sure the the USB ports have been installed correctly. The card you are plugging the device into might not be seated correctly in the computer. Try plugging in another device and see what happens.

When frustrated remember, in the computer world there is almost always a backdoor.
