Greetings All,
How's life? Mine is a major pain right now.. I have a customer (ISP type) who has not been backing up properly..
and who has been running most everything on one server..
(Yes, I'll be slapping them after I get this fixed) They're running BSD 4.3
Well it appears that his main system drive has a problem.. FSCK comes back with superblock errors.. and -b 32 doesn't find a valid superblock.
When I look at the data in disklabel it shows up the partitions, (just not which is which)
I can cat the device and can see data, a scsi verify finds the drive to be ok. Just looks like something is missing like a pointer in the partition tables etc.. unfortunatuly for me, I'm not familiar enough with the FREEBSD UFS to really know what I'm looking for etc.. I'm shows all the slices to be there, but have no way of mounting an individual slice to try to remove the data so i can transfer it to another server..
This is an emergency call for any help available... I'm able to boot using another hard drive, and can pretty much work on the drive ok, just need to know what I need to do to get the drive to mount etc.. I know all this is very vague, Now you see how I'm operating on this.. <grin> I didn't install the system originaly so I have no idea how it was origially setup. Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated in tryig to pull the data off etc.. Thankx in advance.
