major audio glitches with Logitech web cam

I tried another forum and got no reply, so maybe this one will work better. We installed USB QuickCam communicate stx cameras for cheapo conferencing. Our problem is the audio.. for no reason in Skype (and other progs) it suddenly bursts into loud hiss interference. I tried both on board sound card from my ASUS A7N8x and a Santa Cruz but same results.
Any thoughts here?

Just trying to help you out, not to criticize.
It might be better if you put this in the peripherals section instead of here in video section, since you are saying this is an audio problem, just a thought, who knows for sure.
Another thing, not that many use webcams, so its harder to get help with vidcam issues, so dont take it personal.
You might even try and google a website or 2 that deal strictly with webcams and ask there as well.

Thanks garebo... I never take good advice given nicely as criticizm... which is why I use these forums since the flamers are not welcome! As it turns out it was a defective mic on the webcam at one end. Don't know why I didn't think of periphs tho: thanks again pointing me in the best direction.
