Just a quick question about AIX maintenance levels. We have just installed ML8 on a machine that previously had ML6 installed. The machine is now showing that not all filesets from ML7 have been installed, but as far as I was concerned ML8 should have updated everything for previous levels.

Anyone else seen this before?

Cheers

Marko

Very common...

To see what needs to be installed to bring you up to a particular
maintenance level:

# instfix -ivk 4330-06_AIX_ML|grep not | grep ':'

and find out what is not installed....
You do for all levels that say not all filesets applied...

ie # instfix -ivk 4330-07_AIX_ML | grep not | grep ':'

-----------------------------
or
If the output indicates that not all filesets are found, you can also
determine which filesets are not updated using the command:
instfix -ciqk 4330-08_AIX_ML | grep ":-:"
and
oslevel; grep :-: /tmp/.oslevel.mlinfo.cache

Find the filesets that are not updated...and get the patches for them...or delete them if they are obsolete....or replaced...

Then run
instfix -i |grep ML
to see if all is well...after applying patches that were missing.
