I have an MCC Cab with this board on it. I have a problem where the board cycles (clicks) on and off. The red xfer light will come on every 15 seconds like clock work. This all started after we did a complete shutdown so as to connect all our power source to an external UPS Device. We have swapped out the board for a new one thinking it was the board but no luck. We even reseaded the board after disconnecting the auxilary cable in case it was a short from that and no luck. Now AVAYA wants to reboot the entire cab but that is service affecting.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks.

Assuming that your UPS is delivering the proper voltage and everything else is stable, A powerdown and reboot may indeed clear the malfunction. I am also assuming that you or Avaya has investigated the alarm and error logs for a cause code or error. If you do a "list con all" does the switch see the board and proper vintage. Or do a "disp cir" and look for a version conflict on the carrier/slot in question.
A cabinet reboot should only be 5 to 10 minute downtime, which is not major unless you have a critical situation ie: hospital or emergency services etc.

Another possibility would be to remove the board for 10 or 15 minutes, do a "disp cir" and see if it has been removed, and if it has reinstall it in the slot and see if it then is "normal". It is not a critical card as it relates only to maintenance and testing.

Hey phonesrus

I like your suggestion to pull the board and then do a lis con all. I did everything else but that. I'll do that on Monday and then let you know. Thanks for the help.

Stupid question.

Can I move the Maintenance board to one of my G650 Cabs?

The maintenance board is non specific to a location, as long as the slot is listed as vacant in "disp cir". It only provides testing facilities of hardware and software issues. It is required in EPN cabinets because they do not have processors and to conserve TDM slots.
