i'm changing the contents of my indexed tables every night,
do i need to worry about recalculating the indexes or that is done automaticaly?
if it is automated - how often is it done?

dont worry about that. Your index
is always up to date.
When inserting datas or changing
your table content it will be sorted
into the right places just in time
as far your table contains an index field.
