Maintain vertical page position after refresh

I have some pages that are set to refresh about every 30 seconds. The pages refresh as they should, but the vertical scroll position always returns to the very top of the page after each refresh. Is there any way to get the page to return to where it was positioned before the refresh occurred? I know I've seen this done before, but don't know how to do it.

You could try setting an anchor on the page.

Then reload the page with the anchor at the end of the URL.
