I have a customer with a Legend 5.0 v10.0 and a Merlin Mail. They have DID service and their main number is a DID number (xxx-x200). Extension 208 is the console (MLX20l w/1 dss). I renumbered an adjunct to ext 200 and assigned ext 200 to cover group 1. I put 4 group cover buttons on ext 208 to answer calls that are made to xxx-x200, and it works just fine. The problem is now I need to have ext 200 go to VM if not answered by the attendant is a resonable time, but I cannot assign cover group 1 to calling group 770 (the voice mail group). How can I get around this? If I need to reprogram the way that I have ext 208 answering xxx-x200 calls then I will do it. The important thing is to get the xxx-x200 calls to go to VM if not answered (and also at night).
Thanks in advance.

Renumber the console to be 200 and assign 200 to the VM coverage group? Or is this too simple? is there more to the story?

jinks, the only reason I didn't make the console ext 200, was that the operator was ext 208 in their old system (this is a consolidation of 2 companies, and most of the station numbers were dictated to me by what the extension numbers were in the old system of the main company). I thought about doing it that way in the beginning, but they wanted to keep their old numbers. If there is no other work-around, then I will go that route. Let me know. BTW, thanks for the quick response.

Could you put 4 SA buttons on your virtual extension 200, then put SSA-200 buttons on 208. Then have 200 cover to VM and have its mailbox point to the auto attendant (with the Call Answer Service Operator assigned to Ext. 208?)

TTT, ssa buttons can't be assigned to DLC or QCC. I thought of that as well.

touchtonetommy: I'll try that. It sounds good on paper, anyway. I'll let you know after I set it up.
Thanks.

Try assigning lines to ext. 200 as prin. owner under lines/trunks, add 200 to cov. group, create mailbox for 200 and make it cos 15 for auto att 1. Then go under ext. cov. delay and set it for number of rings before group cov.

since it a did & not a line add a do not distrub button

What lines are you thinking about having me set up as principle owner? There are no lines that I'm concerned about. It is the DID number (xxx-x200) that I need to take care of.

cvrbob:
Will putting a DND button on the ext 208 (where the x200 rings) send all the calls to VM, even cover grop calls?

How about renumbering the console to 200 to match the main incoming DID, then making the phantom adjunct 208 with a coverage button on the console.

Now you can put the console in DND to get immediate auto attendant coverage, and 208 still rings there. You might also make a pickup 208 button and instruct the operator to use that to answer 208 calls, keeping the button available for a 2nd call.

That sounds possible. I'm going into the switch right now. I'll let you know.
Thanks.

oldclyde, Sorry I misread the original question. I hope I didn't cause you any grief.

ken1713:
No problem. Thanks for taking the time to try to help.

touchtonetommy:
I did as you suggested with the renumbering and it works great. Or at least good enough to get by.
Thanks to everybody for the help.

Hello again. The renumbering worked fine. All the calls are coming in and being answered by the console (200) and if they are not answered, go into voice mail and get the proper greeting. The operator's extension (208) is an adjunct with a primary cover button on the console (200) and she gets those calls ok and if she misses them, they go to her personal mailbox. But now the problem is that there will be messages in the general mailbox (9991), and no light on the console (x200). 9991 is cos 18. x200 is cos 15. The call answer service operator is x200. The general mailbox owner number is x200. Both 9991 and 208 have a personal operator of 200. The light on the console can be turned on & off using #53200 & #*53200. What have I done wrong or not done that is stopping the light from lighting? Also, is there any way to light the light on x200 when there is a message in 208?.
Thanks in advance.

The general mb (9991) problem seems to have worked the bugs out of itself and is now lighting the light on x200 when there is a message in the general mb (9991). Now my only problem is the mw light for x200 being lit when there is a message in x208. Is there was any way to use a calling group somehow and the message waiting extension feature of the calling group to light the light on x200 when there is a message in x208?
