mailservice can't connect

Some weeks ago my ePO server stopped. I have reinstalled it, but now I can't let ePO 3.5 send an e-mail.
Messages:
Starting step: 1 of 7 - Validating mail values...Succes
Starting step: 2 of 7 - Connecting to: mailserver:25...Failed: Connection refused: connect

Does anyone knows the solution for this problem?

Try a telnet on the port 25 on your mailserver.
Perhaps a DNS resolution problem ?

McAffee VSE 8 has port 25 blocking nabled by default, have you upgraded your AV software lately? If not perhaps the relay you are sending to is not allowing you to send to it.
