Hi,

I've seen a few posts on this topic, but I'm afraid I need even more help! I'm using Crystal 8.5 to generate mailing labels from an SQL (Saleslogix) database.

The problem is label wastage as it is not currently possible to select the starting label for the print.

One of the other posts suggests using a UNION to create blank rows in the report.

Can anybody give me any assistance with how to do this?

Thanks,

Neil

Create a table called numbers and populate it with the numbers 1 thru 20 (or whatever the maximum starting position of the label would be).

Link this table to your saleslogix table using a not equal to join, on a field that will never equal 1 thru 20. This will create record inflation.

Createa parameter field to prompt you for the starting label position. Then conditionally suppress the details section(s) if the numbers value is < the parameter value. This will take care of the starting position issue.

How to handle this from here forward depends on what you are trying to do with your labels. Please explain your report and I will elaborate.

Hi dgillz,

I've created the numbers table, linked using a not equal join and conditionally suppressed the details sections.

What I get is 10 labels per contact, which I can reduce using the parameter. However, the labels still start printing in the 1st label position.

Have I done something wrong?

We would like to be able to print a sheet of mailing labels for several different contacts (one label per contact), starting at a given position on the first page, then reverting back to position 1 for subsequent pages.

The other scenario is to print a single mailing label, but again being able to choose the starting position.
Thanks for your help,

Neil

make sure you do not have the details section set to "supress blank section".
