I have a 2000 sbs server running exchange 2000. Users complained that they could not "connect" to the exchange server. After I looked in the system manager, I noticed that the "mailbox store" was not mounted. I right clicked on the mailbox store, and mounted the volume. It mounted successfully, and some users found themselves in a "connected" state... but only for about 20 seconds, and then the mailbox store would dismount. I cannot keep this volume mounted, and therefore I am in a serious state of no email. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks

How is the free disk space on the server? Exchange will not mount the mail store if there isn't enough free disk space.

Seems like WDOELLEFELD and CLAUDEK suggested. You're either reaching 16GB limit and/or running out of space on your C drive for system file. I assume you store your DB in different drive rather than C.

I would check space first before consider corrupt file. TIDYTRAX is right too, but check the space first. Let us know so we all can learn.

Good luck

Ok,
The db was 16.8 gb..... so good job peeps. I will tell you that the shrinking of the db is not the easiest thing I have ever had to do.... But it worked. There is a exchange hotfix that allows you to extend the database by 1 gb so that you can decrease the mailbox sizes. You have to create a registry entry, and then mount the volume. After on and offline defrags of the db, all was well. Thanks again for all of your input.
