Hello everybody,

I have a strange problem. We are in the process of moving from one E2K server to multiple E2K servers. In order to do this we move mailboxes from users from the original E2K server to the new servers.

When we do this sometimes the mailboxsize doubles. So before a move a mailbox is 100 MB in size and afterwards it is 200 MB. When we move it back it stays the same size (200MB).

Does anybody know why this happens ? At the moment we are only testing but eventually we want to move everyone but we do not want to use double space on the new servers.

Our servers are on W2K SP4, E2K SP3.

Thanks in advance.

Robert.

i'm sure this happens because while on its original server an email that was sent to multiple recipients on the same store only gets stored once. If you move the mailbox to another store it has to take a copy of each of these messages over with it as it is no longer going to be stored on that server that has the copy.

Unfortunately this isn't the case. As I explained we are only testing at this moment. We use a testuser to whom we sent a number of emails. The emails were only sent to this user. So in the originating server there should be an equal number of messages with the same size as on the receiving server of the move mailbox process.
