Hi! I have an interesting problem - hopefully someone can offer a solution. We are running EX03, fully patched. We recently had a bit of turnover in the company, so I have been asked to allow the covering employees access to the email of the folks who have left. Until today, this had gone without a hitch.

I have one user who, despite now having full mailbox rights via AD, cannot expand her user's inbox. For example, I can add the extra Mailbox in Outlook (also 2003 and fully patched), open it, and see the folders inside the Mailbox (Inbox, Sent, etc.). However, this particular user obsessively filed her emails in sub-folders, and I can't get the Inbox to expand and show the subfolders.

I also can't recreate the problem on my own machine because I have Domain Admin rights.

Any ideas why this would be happening or what to do to fix it? thanks!

Istead of worring about why just connect to the mailbox yourself, then export or archive their email and give the PST file to the user.

After the user is happy with that, then you can worry about why and fixing the issues. At these this way you won't feel pressure coming from the users and you can find a solution the correct way without them breathing down your neck.

Does the lack of folder expansion give an error message or just click and nothing?

First, your pst solution is pretty much exactly what I did for a temporary fix. However, right now I'm at the "figure out why" stage ...

It does indeed have an error message. Sort of. It says: "Cannot expand the folder."

Which I find to be *exceptionally* helpful. :)

Hi,

Anything generated in the event logs when userB tries to access userA's old mailbox??

Cheers.
