our company is changing their extension range from 1XXX to 2XXX. We do not have anymore spare mailbox licenses and I need to allow network messages from other sites to be able to send to the old mailbox. Is there anyway I can do translation of the 1XXX to 2XXX for incoming network messaging? I tried to create non-voice mailbox and divert the calls to the new mailbox but it does not help for network messages.

OK, you can do digit translation (from the .dot prompt .l trans; .a trans & .d trans)

Also to save on your licensed mailboxes you can use COS attr 26-May not use internal messaging features for those mailboxes that are in SDM's and other applications etc.

Hope that helps, let me know how it goes.

i had tried, however, after the translation, the network messages is still not working. Meaning if someone had send the message from another system to my system, it will not recognised the translation.

Hi

We will allways in cases like this inform our customers, that all exsisting mailboxes will be erased.
Unless an extra fee is given to us, as we then will have to perform a per mailbox operation using ".m user" to go from e.g. 1xxx to 2xxx.
Most customers will not pay this extra fee and just sees this "operation" as a tidying up of their voice mail system.
To each maibox user we allways send an email with a quick-guide of how to logon again from scratch and how to record a new welcome message.

Normally it just "goes by the book".

You could always run a trace @L T 1 and determine what the pbx is sending so as to configure the digit translation.

Another option is to create new mailboxes as Doktor suggests, and record a message "Please re-send this message to xxxx" in the old mailboxes as a name that will be played across a (digital) network.

As for modifying the mailboxes, this could be done in a matter of minutes using a script and .csv file in something like ProComm Plus
