I"m trying to setup a new mailbox for a user in the mitel 3300. It will not allow me to enter more than 4 digits for the mailbox number, however it will allow me to enter 5 digits for the mailbox extension. Any ideas would be great.
The mailbox digit length is fixed. It can be set to 5 but then ALL of your mailbox numbers will be 5 digits.
Additionally, to change the digit length, you must login to the Admin Mailbox and select "To begin a new installation and erase the current one - Press 1"
It doesn't actually erase the existing but all the mailboxes will be padded with a zero at the end and the users will have to setup their mailboxes again. No messages lost thankfully!
The extension length does not need to match as you have discovered so the ext's can remain at 4 digits.
You will no longer be able to create associated mailboxes using the User and Config form unless the extension length in 5 digits though. All voicemail programming will have to be done directly in the voice mailbox form.
Or - you can change your 5 digit extension to 4 digits
or - you can leave it as is.
(I'd pick one of the latter)

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.
Do you know if this will erase the General greeting like.."welcome to such and such, press 1 for... Press 2 for..." if we do a new voicemail install and make it a 5 digit mailbox number instead of 4?
The greetings usually stay and all mailboxes messages are still there once reprogrammed although the users will need to go through the tutorial again, However I may have further bad news for you, I have seen this happen a few times and each time the reason for it was that the voicemail system had been hacked, Please tell us your admin, tech passwords were not in default and that your vm ports are barred from outgoing.
